N.S. Beranek’s first published short story was “Thou Shalt Not Lie” in Saints & Sinners 2013: New Fiction from the Festival and she has had stories in the three successive volumes. The 2015 collection, in which her story “Days of Awe” appeared, was an INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award finalist. Her story “Call for Submission” in Threesome: Him, Him and Me was praised as “touching and gentle” by Publishers Weekly in their starred review of that collection. Her stories have also appeared in Best Gay Romance 2014 and Diverse Voices Quarterly, vol. 6 issue 21. She was the editor for The Role by Richard Pearson and Dancing with the Daffodils by Tarion Keelan.

Born and raised in Chicago, she was an Assistant Propmaster in regional theatre for nineteen years. She lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband, Rob. You can find her online at nsberanek.com. Her debut novel, Angels Fall, is forthcoming from Lethe Press.

  1. Thanks for your review of The Wand’s Boy. I’ve used the Maxee and/or its narrator in several other stories – none as available online as TWB which is up on rickbowes.com. And no, they don’t at this point amount to a novel, though I do create fix-ups (novels made out of stories), My “Dust Devil on a Quiet Street,” currently nominated for a World Fantasy Award and my “Minions of the Moon” a Lambda winner, are fix-ups.
